US Green Ribbon Schools

US Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools logoThe U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools program honors schools that are exemplary in the three pillars of:

  • Reducing environmental impact and cost
  • Improving the health and wellness of students and staff, and
  • Providing effective environmental and sustainability education, which incorporates STEM, civic skills and green career pathways. 

 

Application

All public K-12 schools in Kentucky are eligible to apply. The Kentucky Department of Education chooses three Kentucky Green Ribbon Schools each year, and those schools are then nominated for the US Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools award.
