What is Project WET?
Project WET is a nonprofit water education program and publisher for educators and young people ages 5-18. The program facilitates and promotes awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources through the dissemination of classroom-ready teaching aids.

KY Project WET Mission
The mission of Kentucky Project WET is to foster responsible water stewardship utilizing effectiveGraphic of Project WET manual water education throughout the Commonwealth.

What's in the Guide?
The heart of the Project WET program is the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide, a 500+ page collection of more than 90 fun, innovative, water related educational activities designed to supplement an educators existing curriculum.  Project WET materials were developed and field tested by over 600 educators and resource managers working with more than 34,000 students nationwide.  The materials are hands-on, easy to use, and meet the needs of many different teaching and learning styles.

Our relationships with water are a major theme of the activity guide. The guide is divided into these categories:

  • Water education involves a variety of teaching strategies.

  • Water has unique physical and chemical characteristics.

  • Water is essential for all life to exist.

  • Water connects all Earth Systems

  • Water is a natural resource

  • Water resources are managed

  • Water resources exist within social constructs

  • Water resources exist within cultural constructs

This guide is organized in a manner that makes it very user-friendly and includes:

  • Background information for each activity.

  • Comprehensive planning and cross-reference charts.

  •  "Charting the Course" section that links activities together.

  • Activity icons for quick connections to the guides conceptual framework.
