Ryan D. Green, Council Chair


Ryan D. Green has served as the Executive Director of Budgeting and Financial Planning at Eastern Kentucky University, EKU since 2016.  Ryan has nearly a decade and a half of executive level budgeting and administrative experience and has worked on some part, area or assignment of twelve Kentucky biennial budgets.  Prior to his service at EKU, from 2010 through 2016, Ryan was the Executive Director of Budget and Administration at the former Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, where he partnered with the Kentucky Environmental Education Council, KEEC, to plan, develop and execute an inter-agency interactive media and visitors experience project with KEEC at the Capitol Education Center on the Capitol Campus, among numerous other efforts.  From 2003 to 2010 Ryan was a budget analyst and a senior budget analyst with the Kentucky Office of State Budget Director.  Ryan began his public service career in the Kentucky Department for Military Affairs as a fiscal officer in 2002 and holds a Master’s Degree in National Security Policy from the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Relations.  Ryan resides in Central Kentucky with his wife and two sons.​


Sarah Cummins, Council Vice Chair​


Sarah Cummins is the Head of School of Redwood Cooperative School in Lexington, Kentucky. Prior to becoming the Head of School, Sarah worked as a primatologist completing research in Kenya, East Africa, and enjoyed more than a decade as a Science teacher in California and Kentucky. Now, Sarah's focus is on educational systems, including promoting environmental literacy and stewardship for all students across the Commonwealth. She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, an Executive Educational Leadership certificate, and is a certified professional environmental educator and Kentucky Early Care and Education Credentialed Trainer. She has led professional development for teachers across the state in environmental education, positive discipline, restorative justice, and deeper learning. Sarah is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kentucky, teaching undergraduate classes in Educational Leadership. Recently, Sarah received a Fullbright Leaders for Global Schools Program Award and traveled to Finland to conduct research and learn about Finland’s education system. Sarah resides in central Kentucky with her husband and two sons.


Ben Allen

Hailing originally from the Mammoth Cave region, Ben Allen has proudly served on the Council since 2020. He is currently a lawyer with Gess Mattingly & Atchison, P.S.C. in Lexington, Kentucky, where he lives with his wife and two sons. His legal practice focuses on criminal defense and litigation, both civil and administrative. He also has previous experience representing clients before several state and federal agencies regarding environmental issues. Ben looks forward to helping the Council achieve its goals in fostering environmental education across the Commonwealth.


Katie Dailinger

Katie Dailinger was appointed to the Kentucky Environmental Education Council in 2022.

Dr. Hugh Henry was appointed to the Kentucky Environmental Education Council in 2019​​.​


Tresine Logsdon


Tresine Logsdon spearheads student-driven sustainability in Fayette County Public Schools by working closely with teachers, principals and students and facilitating school-community partnerships.  She also mentors the Bluegrass Youth Sustainability Council, a coalition of 50+ student leaders from 11 central KY public and private high schools who design and implement campus and city-wide sustainability improvement projects through eight active Project Committees. She has 25 years teaching experience, most recently at Henry Clay High School teaching AP Env. Science and Biology.  FCPS accepted the 2020 US Dept of Education National Green Ribbon District Award and 2016 National Best School District Award from US Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools.  In addition to KEEC Council service, civic leadership roles have included Board Chair for nonprofit Bluegrass Greensource, Board President for Northside Neighborhood Association and Board member service for RadioLex, CivicLex, Bluegrass Tomorrow, America in Bloom Lexington, and Leadership Lexington adult and youth programs.  Tresine is married to Matthew Logsdon, Language Arts teacher at Henry Clay High School, and they have two daughters.


Brad Mitzelfelt


Brad Mitzelfelt is a retired senior county official with more than 35 years of experience in local, state, and national public affairs. Most recently, he worked for 10 years on external relations for the U.S. Department of Energy in its environmental cleanup of the former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion (uranium-enrichment) Plant. He holds a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Kentucky.  A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Mitzelfelt lives on his family farm in Bloomfield (Nelson County) with his wife and two children.​


Ashley Wilmes


Ashley Wilmes is Executive Director of Kentucky Resources Council, a statewide public interest environmental law and advocacy organization that provides free legal assistance to those living downwind, downstream, and downhill of environmental problems. Before joining KRC, she practiced environmental law as a solo practitioner, served as a visiting lecturer at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and worked as in-house counsel for the environmental advocacy organization WildEarth Guardians. Ashley has represented organizations across the country on environmental matters and has argued cases before the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Tent Circuits. Ashley graduated from Centre College and the University of Oregon School of Law and is a former Chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association.​
