About Us

​​​The Kentucky Environmental Education Council (KEEC) is a state agency within the Education and Labor Cabinet.

The agency's mission is to promote learning and skills for a sustainable and economically healthy environment. The agency's vision is to ensure a sustainable and economically healthy environment for all Kentuckians through environmental education.

To reach this goal, the Council coordinates environmental education (EE) across the Commonwealth, by:

The Kentucky Environmental Education Council was established to improve Kentuckians’ understanding of their environment.  Although a major focus is primary and secondary education, the Council also works with colleges and universities, businesses, local governments, private organizations and citizens. Our goal is to provide citizens with the knowledge they need to make their own informed decisions about our environment.
